Cursive is Back—- A Public Service Announcement

I remember when it was decided by the WIZARDS OF SMART, that kids didn’t need to learn to write in cursive.  It was a waste of class time for students and teachers.  Cursive writing was passé, old fashioned, behind the times old school.  Computers are new, modern and cool. Last but not least, common core education standards that guide many states’ curriculum policies don’t emphasize it.  TEACHERS:  But, But, But,…kids need to learn to write cursive because: Your signature is in […]

What is Sex Texting?

Do you know what to do about Sex Texting?

What is Sexting? There was a front page (that continued to the entire back page) article in the local paper today (April 27, 2017). The local police are going to middle and high schools to explain social media consequences in hopes of preventing future cases of cyberbullying and child pornography. Sheep vs. Sheepdog

What do you want to be?: Sheep vs Sheepdog = Leader vs Follower

As I read the article “Sex Assaults in High School Sports Minimized as “Hazing”, I was reminded of the movie American Sniper’s famous scene entitle “The Sheepdog Speech”. There are three kinds of people in this world — sheep, wolves and sheepdogs. The sheep prefer to believe that evil doesn’t exist in this world. The wolves use violence to prey on the weak. The sheepdogs are blessed with the gift of aggression and possess an overpowering need to protect […]

Bill Cosby during Sexual Assault Trial -- Was Justice Served?

What does Justice have to do with Health Lessons?

What does Justice have to do with Health Lessons?  My students could tell you because they knew about how sexual court cases are judged by people using common sense.  I knew and my students would have known the day Andrea Constand (Cosby’s accuser) testified in court, that she was not going to win her case. You need 12 jurors for a conviction; for a case dismissal all you need is 1 juror. With her reported story, there was no way […]
